Default Stuck Installing TVMC/KODI on W7 Laptop

I am having trouble trying to install TVMC/KODI. The installation
fails during its (fusion) setup. I followed the procedure in

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuSJ9fFtP1g
(How to install XBMC - Kodi - on Windows 2015)

(Downloaded kodi-14.2-Helix.exe from www.kodi.rc/download/)

and then

http://www.tvaddons.ag/addon-installer-kodi/
(Addon Installer for Kodi)

Both installs worked just fine and Kodi Helix ran fine too
on my W7 PC, but I really want it on my W7 laptop.
Just for kicks, I tried this install on my Galaxy tablet, using the
Android version of the program. It works just fine too.

That said, I find that the procedure in the first install fails when
to the step to configure the fusion add-on:

"Error - Script fails - configwizard"

I tried this several times including a complete re-install from
scratch.

I googled the problem and found I am not alone. But I don't know how
to do some of the suggested solutions, and those I could do did not
work.

Has anyone encountered this problem? I would appreciate any and all
helps.

Thanks

Alan

I have seen no responses to my above post.

I have been researching the 'script error' problem when I try to
configure 'fusion' in XBMC/KODI on my laptop. I have no problem on
my W7 desktop and even on m y Galaxy tablet. I am finding that this
is a known problem seemingly without solution. At least until KODI is
fixed.

That said, one suggestion was to go back to an earlier version to get
one that worked. So I tried that. I went all the way back to version
10.0. All gave the same error.

Just for reference - here is the URL I used
to get downloadable copies of all the KODI/XBMC releases:

http://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases/win32/old/

and here is the guide that I used to install KODI:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuSJ9fFtP1g

I am getting nowhere. Too bad - I really wanted to watch movies
using KODI.

Oh well....

1. Is your problem with installing Fusion or with the basic Kodi?

Fusion - in the configure step.

2. Have you completely uninstalled Kodi?

I think - using W7 remove programs.

3. Have you gone through your event logs in windows and corrected anything
generating errors?

No. Need to find the event log file, wherever it is.

4. Have you ensured you have no malware or viruses on your machine?

I use Avast and Malwarebytes.

5. Are you rebooting your machine before your installation attempts?

No. I'll try that.

6. Have you used something like CCleaner to purge all your temporary and other
garbage files?

Not between KODI attempts. I use Wise.

7. Have you tried completely disabling your anti-virus and other prophylactic
software on the notebook before attempting installation?

No. What the heckee is prophylactic software? I'll have to Google
that term I guess in order to see what you mean.

8. Have you run chkdsk /f on the notebook hard drive?

No. Maybe I should?

Thanks for your ideas.

He You are primarily interested in the "Administrative" log under custom
views. For the time being, you want to focus on the red "errors" and deal with
the yellow "warnings" a little later.

Rebooting your machine can solve a lot of problems. I suggest everyone reboot
their machine every night, if they don't shut it off completely. Many people
confuse a notebook sleep or hibernation mode with a machine actually being
turned off or rebooted, they are very different. You want a fresh start of your
OS, once per day, on personal computers and workstations.

Haven't used "Wise". I looked at their website..... I would probably download,
install and run CCleaner

Prophylactic software = protective software. e.g., anti-virus, anti-malware,
firewall, etc.

Might be a good idea after running ccleaner.

This site is further evidence that it is fusion with the problem.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS9kr4kHssI

I do not get the script error when I do what the site suggests.
However, the actual use of the other 'superrepo' seemed extremely slow
and non-responsive, at least so far.

Thanks

In addition to my suggestions above, I would also try running Kodi as the
administrator, right click on Kodi, left click on Run As administrator and see
if you have more success with the installation.

I installed KODI and Fusion on our Amazon FireTV without any errors. I have not
seen the need to install it on a windows machine.

Good luck.

I just tried running Kodi as administrator - same script error
failure. Nice thought though.

Thanks for helps.
