Thanks Alias and I see our parting from this thread as two people who now
understand a little better where the other person is coming from. I
appreciate you giving me the opportunity to share and I appreciate that you
were so willing to share with me. If it is God's will perhaps we shall meet
in the real world someday and I hope that I am not offending you by being
too religious but I would not have been able to survive my ordeal with
cancer without my faith or at the very least I would be a lot worse off than
I am now.

In my local they wanted to rob a bank. There was a barbershop in the
same minimall.

They cut a hole in the roof of the barbershop, climbed down, then
chipped a hole to the bank and got all the money from the autotellers.
Sort of like that old Clint Eastwood movie where they blasted the wall

Default Pirated XP, means-test everyone and every product with "income-verification cards" and have discount adjusted prices accordingly.

45% of the local schoolworkers union get below poverty wages and have been
working without a contract for 6 months. They appear ready to go on strike.

How about means-testing software prices on a sliding scale? If you make less
than poverty, you get a 75% discount on the software. Just take the County EBT
card up to Staples and get the Microsoft discount. Wal-Mart workers might buy
more computers too, if they could get a means-tested discount on new computer
machines and parts. Seems as soon as they get hired, its off to the county to
get food stamps and such because Wal-Mart won't pay them a living wage. Just
means-test everybody so everything will be priced according to your income
(you'll need an in-store calculator or thingamawidge so you can swipe your
"income verification card" & then swipe the UPC code on the product you're
buying to get an adjusted price figured out before you go up to the cashier and
repeat the process.

A lot of us people on the bottom have severely outdated stuff and can't upgrade.
We have to buy "new" all over again.

Mr. Marx would be happy with that. Gee, I thought that the
NEA was the biggest union and considering the money spent on
school systems, the wages paid are well above poverty.

It has been my experience that people who have no money for
computers or food for their children have plenty of beer and
cigarettes.

Are you? Since you only said you "don't drink" you must
smoke? At $4 a pack a day, you are spending $1400 a year
plus the extra healthcare and laundry/clothes.

This is a newsgroup, everybody makes general statements

I didn't miss the point, I think you don't understand the
system. The people who are too stupid to get a good high
paying job are too stupid to handle the discount card
options you propose. Most people who work at or near
minimum wage are in those jobs by choice. Students who
don't want a job that requires a 24/7 commitment, retired
folks who don't want more than to supplement their
retirement income and just plain stupid people who can't
work at a skilled job.

As others have said, there are many steep discounts on
software and hardware at schools.

Mr. Marx and you seem to want a legal requirement for such
discounts being enforced by government.

Mr. Marx is dead and so are his ideas.
