Generl question about conection speed
Tex wrote:
Ive been using Win98 and i changed over to WinXP home edition. With the old system i was getting connection speed of 52 KBps (dail- up) everytime i connected but now im lucky to get 46KBps. im using the same ISP and the same comp so this has really got me stumped. Any help would be great, thankx -----------== Posted via Newsfeed.Com - Uncensored Usenet News ==----- ----- http://www.newsfeed.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----= Over 100,000 Newsgroups - Unlimited Fast Downloads - 19 Servers =----- I don't see how you can say you now only get 46 instead of 52, it's not as black & white as that. It has nothing to do with your ISP if it's using V90 technology, the download speed is purely the maximum speed the SITE can deliver, up to the maximum capabilies of your modem & phone line and can vary enormously. OTOH, I don't know how the OS decides which speed it will display, it may just be displaying a lower figure whereas tthe speed hasn't in fact really changed. Possibly someone wiser than me can clarify that. -- johnf (when replying direct, please ensure my address ends with .au) |
