Default USB Controllers problem

On a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, the USB ports were not responding to
devices. So I removed the Controllers in Device Manager so that they would
reinstall, but they didn't. I then looked to see if Dell had a proprietary
install for USB on the Driver Disk or Online, and they don't.
What do I have to do to get the Controllers to reinstall?
Maybe run SFC...?
Any ideas???

Thank you...

The BIOS settings are o.k.
There was a program called USB Sharing that I removed too... It might have
somethong to do with my problem...
