Default Deleting Dashlane

Some time ago I installed Dashlane on my system. For a month or so it
appeared to work OK. Then I could no longer open it and it didnot
appear when I accessed wed sites. I though I would delete it and
perhaps reinstall it but when I do I get the message that I couldnot do
so because IE was open (It was no). Trying to reinstall if reulted in
the same message. I tried to get some help on the Dashlane web site but
could not post or get an answer because I do not have a twitter account
(and don't want one). Could there be some other means of getting rid of
this program?

Can you go directely to your Start menu, then in the "All Programs"
menu, find the Dashlane directory? Click on Dashlane and then click
on "Uninstaller" from there.

I did that. I get the same result there as trying to do an install
using the Remove Program application. It says it cannot proceed because
IE is open.

My way would be to disable annoying IE behavior by dumping it and get
a better browser!

In case you don't want to be quite so rash, we can take a more
moderate approach. The plan is to disable IE (temporarily).

Firstly, backup your 'C' drive, preferably to a different hard drive,
or at least to a different partition. I recommend Macrium Reflect
Free (I actually use Acronis True Image but you have to pay for that).

Create a bootable rescue disk (may be called recovery disk) in case
you have to restore the 'C' drive.

The following is based on a Windows 7 installation. The same steps
would apply to Windows 8 but I am not sure of the nomenclature for
Windows 8.

To disable IE, just follow these simple steps:

1. Click "Start Orb" and in the search box, type:
"Turn Windows features on or off"

2. In the "Windows Features" panel, remove the 'tick' next to
Internet Explorer (IE10 in Windows 7). Click OK.

3. Re-boot.

IE should not now be running, so now try again to uninstall Dashlane.

After Dashlane is uninstalled, you can reverse steps 1 and 2 above (to
replace the 'tick' next to Internet Explorer in the "Windows Features"
panel).

On my PC, I installed Firefox and then did the removal steps above. IE
can remain dormant!

Before making any changes to my PC, I always make a backup of my 'C'
drive. The 5 minutes or so that it takes is cheap insurance.

Good luck,

They have some suggestions here for "busy browsers". Basically use
Task Manager to see if the browser is still running.

Browsers generally also support options for running them
without add-ons or plugins loaded. Names like "Safe Mode"
and the like. That might be another way to test whether
you can release Dashlane from its clutches.
