Default Windows XP and Download Speed.

When it is said that Download speed is 37.9 MB.
Is it always per second or per minute?
Does it changes in different os per second to per minute or other way round?

When you download from the Internet have you ever gotten 40 megabytes of
data on one second?

Didn't think so.

Well, you can, but you have to be living in Kansas :-)
(Google Fiber, $70 a month)

Considering the huge amount of info the OP gave, I stuck my neck out and
made a wild guess.

Is that what it said, or did it say 37.9 mb.

Most speeds I've seen are in mbps. Megabits per second. It take 8
megabits to make a megabyte. (Plus a very good mason and two helpers
:-) )

Bits are little b, bytes are capital B. A style I havent' seen for
any other measure, afaicr.

No, the people at the other end don't know what OS you have and it would
confuse everything if people used different scales for different OSes.
And the OS isn't really related to download speeds. Maybe some old
OSes have lower maximums, but say you have a dial-up connection, or even
DSL. I think you'll get the same speeds regardless of the OS.

(I used to knock download accelerators for webpages for dial-up, but
the one they gave me, when I threatened to go somwwhere else) worked
well. But it didn't really change the download speed. It just
identified repetitive portions and said how many reps there were rather
than sending 100 or 10,000 of the same thing, and it left it up to the
user to rebuild the webpages as they were before they were compressed. )

probably Mb, mb would be millibit.

Most speeds I've seen are in mbps. Megabits per second. It take 8
megabits to make a megabyte. (Plus a very good mason and two helpers

Undercase m is milli- = * 1/1000, capital M = mega- = * 1.000.000.

Yes. I misread it. Thansk.

One needs an even better mason with only millibits.

Bits are little b, bytes are capital B. A style I havent' seen for
