Default Is the iso safe?

Hi All,

Is the ISO this web page points to safe/clean?

http://getintopc.com/softwares/opera...-8-1-download/

Virus Total says the site is clean

Many thanks,

If it's illegal, why is it still up?
If it's legal, why can't you download it from the M$ site itself?

I take it Windows 8 SP1 is the same thing as Windows 8.1? My PC which used to be Windows 8, has had all the updates and calls itself Windows 8.1 Pro in the system control panel. There is no SP1 mentioned.

Hi Guy,

Frankenstein has three versions:
W8.0
W8.1
W8.1-SP1

When I get all installed, I will see if SP1 shows
up anywhere.

By all reports SP1 can be an ugly upgrade.

Thank you again for helping me with this,
-T

I think this is it, but I've never had to use it: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/w...-refresh-media

Hi Guy,

Took me a minute to realize that I had to click the create
media button to download a utility that lets me pick
what I want. I was looking for the ISO itself.

Oh, and the utility laid an egg when I tried to run it from
Wine. Chuckle, Chuckle.

I wonder if the ISO has SP1 built into it?

Thank you for helping me with this. Way easier than the stuff
I found on Google.

Try using IE. M$ pages never work right with any other browser, it won't have detected your OS correctly.

The ISO by itself is harmless[1]. If you mount it as a drive and execute
code on it, that's another issue...So follow Ken1943's advice (unless
you find a good checksum).

[1] OK, I personally haven't heard of a way to cause harm by downloading
an ISO, even by mounting it (unless you auto execute it).
