Memory problem

You have to use the same type and specification RAM, also
the 3 GB limit of the motherboard my require 1 GB modules.
I the BIOS able to detect and use all the RAM the mobo is
physically capable of holding?

There are different types of memory and configurations that motherboards
will support.

Is the memory you are installing the same as what's in the system already.
For example, if you have PC2100 in it already, are you trying to put an
additional 512 of PC2100 in?
