Default Cannot use my PIN

On bootup I am now asked for my password instead of my handy PIN.

Clicking the ADD button results in either a very brief appearance of the
'spinner' then nothing, or it spins indefinitely until I exit. Nor is
there a 'Forgot my PIN' facility anywhere, as mentioned in several
articles.

I haven't forgotten my PIN - it just no longer appears at login, so I
have to use a long password. I even tried changing that, but the same
issue remains.

I had that happen, then the PIN option reappeared at a later date for
reasons I still don't know. I didn't try a hard reboot, and that might
have worked, but I refuse to struggle to keep up with the quirks of the
OS when I just want to get to work!

Thanks Neil.

Unfortunately it sounds like I'm more obsessive! I've tried every
suggestion I've found, so far without success. The most recent was the
promising approach of deleting everything from the \NGC folder,
described here. I carefully followed all the instructions but on then
got this message denying permission. That's MY user account permission
I'm being asked for!

I'm lost when it comes to changing permissions, owner, etc, etc.

It's only a matter of typing in a ten character pw versus a four digit
PIN, but...

Having spent far too long on this I forced myself to abandon it. I've
instead removed the need for both pin AND password. On this solo-use PC
that presents no significant security risk.

For curiosity, academic interest and in case I ever decide to return to
pin use, I'd still be interested to hear from anyone who has resolved
the problem or has any ideas about it please.

I don't know how to resolve your problem but could you not have changed
your password to your 4 digit PIN?

If someone wants to access a Microsoft Account, they need a password
that fits MS' criteria. OTOH, if someone has no intention of using a MS
account and is otherwise unconcerned about unauthorized access to their
computer, the easiest solution is to do as Terry did and eliminate the
use of a password.
