Thank you!

Which "Image" is dism talking about here?* The one on your
installation media (resides in C or the native install,
which typically would reside on D: in PE mode?

No, D: there is the "C drive". D: is the
one you're trying to fix.

It depends on the partition discovery order of
your WinPE environment, as to the drive letter.

The WinPE boot OS gets the drive letter of X: ,
leaving C: for other purposes. But on some
WinPEs, the C: is the System Reserved, and
D: is the "C drive".

Thank you!

My ASUS's hard disk is partitioned between C and D (it also has some system partitions which I
cannot access). The system software is on C, as are all the installed app's (Microsoft Office,
Mozilla Firefox etc.). But all my data (documents, spreadsheets, emails etc.) are all on the D (for
data) drive. This makes data backups easier for me. Nice and simple.

From an article by ZDNET:
Rolling out from the 17th October, the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update
promises to deliver new features big and small to Windows desktops.

The next feature release version is = Windows 10 October 2018 Update

Up until now it has always been called Windows September Update, hence
1809. Now some sources are calling it 1810, while others are sticking with
1809.

if you read it on the internet, it must be true.

what matters is what microsoft calls it, not what ignorant journalists
do.

It's funny that the rest of the industry can pick random
names for things, and avoid the temporal dimension
entirely.

=(1809)

1709 was Fall Creators Update

Erin Chapple, Corporate VP MSFT; Aug. 31, 2018
"I’m pleased to announce that our next feature update to Windows will be
called the Windows 10 October 2018 Update."

i.e. only one naming source counts, the above.

Why not put it off until December, so it will be the 1812, with music to match!

I can hear the marketing guys right now: "Windows 1812. It is still
a piece of crap BUT IT IS SHOT FROM CANNONS! Our best, most
compatible version ever! Why did we skip Windows Nein?"
