A new scam

alt.comp.os.windows-10: Reporting back. In the last 6 days I've not had one spam/scam call. NoMoRoBo seems to work very well. Thanks again. Nomorobo doesn't eliminate spam calls, it just blocks them after one ring. If you have had no single-ring calls, you can't credit Nomorobo for that. These things go in cycles. If you haven't had many spam calls for a few days, just wait - they'll be back before long. My counts were up a couple of weeks ago, but then they tapered off and I haven't had any since the 12th. I know it's just temporary and they'll ramp up again. |

Scammers/spammers now munge my local area code in an attempt to get me to pick up. You might want to look into the free NoMoRoBo. Thanks much. Just signed up. You're welcome. Let us know what you think of it. Reporting back. In the last 6 days I've not had one spam/scam call. NoMoRoBo seems to work very well. Thanks again. Good news, and you're very welcome. But don't expect never to get *any*. Good as NoMoRoBo is, it's not perfect. |

If you have had no single-ring calls, you can't credit Nomorobo for that. However my cordless phone system has a programming feature that allows me to turn off the first ring on ALL calls. Now there is SILENCE, even from NoMoRoBo! Life is good... If you haven't had many spam calls for a few days, just wait - they'll be back before long. It's true that in the last few days with my new found blessed first ring SILENCE I can't tell for sure if there were any blocked calls. However I ASSume that when I go from 3 (average) a day to SILENCE that things are working. BTW Did I mention how nice the SILENCE is... |

So you only hear a call if they let it ring for two or more rings? I wish I had that feature. However I ASSume that when I go from 3 (average) a day to SILENCE that things are working. I still wouldn't make that assumption. I haven't had any junk calls since last Friday but I'm certain that Nomorobo is working and would have given me the one ring. The lack of junk calls is just part of the cycle. I don't know who your phone service is, but mine, Comcast, has a web log page where you can see all incoming and outgoing calls. Calls that Nomorobo blocks are easy to distinguish. BTW Did I mention how nice the SILENCE is... I have a hazy recollection of long ago silence... or was it just a dream? |

That sounds like a great feature. Check your cordless phone, maybe you do have first ring blocking. My cordless phone has its own number blocking capability and (like NoMoRoBo) requires one ring to determine if the call should be blocked. For those like me who one-ringers annoy it allows me to turn off that first ring. BTW I just got a snail mail letter from Cox today saying they're very happy to announce some new phone features with what they're calling "Cox Voice". One of the new features? You guessed it: NoMoRoBo. How's that for timing... |

I can't find first ring blocking on my phone, maybe it doesn't have it? -- XS11E, Killing all posts from Google Groups The Usenet Improvement Project: http://twovoyagers.com/improve-usenet.org/ |
