compaqs challenge to Microsoft
I installed full retail XP Pro after suffering compaq OEM nightmares.
I downloaded from the manufacturer their xp driver for the nvidia riva tnt2 card that came with the computer. The compaq computer after log on warms me of severe consequences using this manufacter's xp pro driver. I emailed Compaq for the location on their driver database the driver for this card. I only wanted a clean running o.s. Here's their response: Dear Compaq Customer, I understand that after upgrading the operating system to Windows XP Pro, you are experiencing a problem with the video driver. Installing a retail version of Windows XP Pro operating system will lead to issues pertaining to incompatible device drivers. Therefore, we do not recommend our customers to install a retail version of Windows XP in Presario computers. |

If not, try the nVidia one. -- Cari MS-MVP Windows Technologies - Printing/Imaging/Hardware www.coribright.com "Chu Rey" wrote in message om...
