Windows Zip: Cannot Create Output File
Hey All-
I just spent all morning searching the net to try to solve what no one seems to be able to: Problem: After highlighting files in a folder, then right clicking and choosing "Send to Compressed Folder (zip)," it starts to create the Zip file and then crashes--displaying the dreaded "Cannot Create Output File." Now I have spent hours reading all kinds of security and password answers that have NOTHING to do with this issue. Please, if you can not provide an exact solution to this issue, please do not theorize here. Thanks. Someone must have the answer to this. So many people are having this problem! Pirate727 |

Windows Zip: Cannot Create Output File
You really cannot expect anything other than a theoretical answer, since you
have the problem and most others do not. Besides reading security and password related information, what, if anything, have you tried, in order to solve the problem? What didn't work is as or more useful in this case. wrote in message oups.com... Windows Zip: Cannot Create Output File
Hi Chuck-
I appreciate your reply, however, I have found several threads in several boards where people are having this exact same problem. No one seems to have the right answer. What I have done that works is to move the files to another computer and zip them there. I thought it might be my directory that was corrupted, or a file, but neither theory held. The same condition happened no matter what directory on the computer I tried to zip files from. -- Either the ones I was working on or the ones that were already there. A friend told me that the zip element itself may be corrupted, or a Windows kernel file, requiring a reinstall (which may not replace the files) or a re-format. Any ideas? |

Windows Zip: Cannot Create Output File
I could suggest ZipCentral as a better alternative to the inbuilt function. I install this on most computers I roll out, and the users seem to prefer it. Freeware though, so 'fraid no chance to exercise your cutlass. g |
