Default Missing Icons

I have a problem with explorer in XP home edition. The
icons in the left panel are missing. The icons are
present in the right panel. I've tried all the folder
setting without any result.
Can anyone help?

You don't have a designated C: drive. Some work around that by using a bat file
in the startup folder
---go.bat--
subst C: d:\some_folder_name
--cut here--
