Ed It would be nice what he found so egregious about Windows 8.1. Did he try it on a system that was suitable to Windows 8.1. How long did he try before he gave up? Did he not like the modern interface? If so he right there with the majority. Did he set it to boot to the desktop, and try to use the desktop mode? Which I think the majority will say provide a good operating system? |

Ed It would be nice what he found so egregious about Windows 8.1. What difference does it make? From my general reading, I would guess one or more of the following: o Bloated resource hog on older hardware. o Metro interface ok on a cell phone, but sucks on a desk top. o Lots of UI changes with a long learning curve that adds no new functionality, safety or reliability. o The utter offensiveness of trying to foist it on a customer. o etc. etc. That should cover most of it. And here's they "man" we can thank for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvsboPUjrGc -- I kill-file all messages posted through Google Groups. |

Windows 8.x, in comparison to absolutely every distribution of GNU/Linux, is a joy to use, fast and stable. I suggest you give it another try rather than sacrifice your sanity using the mediocre code in GNU/Linux. -- Silver Slimer OpenMedia Supporter GNU/Linux magically turns your modern computer into a Commodore 64... without the neat games |
