Default crashes during defrag

Jeepers. Cath, problems like this are really difficult

to remote-diagnose.
Sure - it COULD be one of the programs you're running.

On the other hand,
it could be a corrupt driver. Or bad memory. And yes,

it could be a virus,
too. Or something left over from a dead virus. Or a

glitch in one of the
zillion Registry settings. etc. etc. etc.

We could play trial-and-error for DAYS and not catch

it. It's also tedious,
because you're not sure how to proceed, (for which I

don't blame you), plus
I'm not there to see what happens when you do

something...very tricky.

So. If you accept the inevitability of a reformat,

then
that might be the
easiest solution. Please touch base with us BEFORE you

take this step, so
that we can try and make it as painless as possible.

I will be reformatting my harddrive tonight, the guy

that
built the computer for me is going to go through it with
me, he also has no idea what could be wrong, he said

that
he too is only guessing as to the problem.
any tips or advice on formatting would be appreciated,
thanks VERY much for your help, I really appreciate it

Hi Ron

sorry bout the wait,
I ended up uninstalling all the programes ect that I had
put on my computer after purcahse, everything went fine
after that, it went through defrag and I did the chkdsk
that you suggested with no problems, the only thing is I
couldn't install the new driver for my digital camera, I
removed the old one and installed the new one,
successfully according to my computer, but it wouldn't
recognise the camera. I ended up reformatting my hdd
last night, still can't get the computer to recognise my
camera, I'm not giving up, I did the reformat myself so I
am hoping that I've do everything right.
As for the problem with defrag ect. I think it may have
been the cameras driver that was causing the problem (??)
sorry again for taking so long to followup
cath
