Default Two problems leave me dazed and confused

Whenever I try to reinstall XP over the old installation, it hangs at
"Installing Devices" and I can only do a clean install.
I can't use Start/Run. The only workaround is to use the Run option in
taskman.
Hopefully there's a solution available. TIA

Are you trying to do a Repair Install or to do an install?

What Windows XP disk are you using?

What is the make and model of your computer?

Hope this helps.
