To be Suck Cessful with Windows 10 requires the following.

1. A computer with Windows 10 installed
2. An install CD or DVD for Windows XP or Windows 7
3. A hour of your time.

Place CD or DVD in computer CD drive.
Turn on the computer.
Follow the instructions to install Windows XP or Windows 7.

Be sure to allow it to format the hard drive and remove everything on
it. (You may want to backup any personal data before you do this)_.

Once the computer installation is finished, you will be Suck Cessful
with Windows 10.

Enjoy using Windows 7 or Windows XP, (and being free from Windows 10).

Easier said than done. You're dealing with contemporary hardware
designed for W10 and old Windows OSes that are not. A bad
combination. Case in point: Friend of mine fried his 14" Thinkpad
E-series (Windows 7) by spilling a glass of ice tea on the keyboard.
He replaced it with a new E model, but running Windows 8 or 8.1. (This
was before 10.) He didn't like 8 and wanted W7 on it. Took it to a pro
shop to do this. They were unable to install W7 on it. It failed early
and repeatedly in the install: Lack of a SINGLE driver that was not
available for Windows 7. Ended up having to put 8 back on it and
install Classic Shell for a W7 look.

I've had similar failings with XP and new hardware. And of course
there's UEFI/GPT (XP doesn't support it; 32-bit version anyway),
motherboards that don't have a Legacy option to allow MBR
partitioning, and then there's Secure Boot and Quick Boot, etc.

The easiest way to be rid of W10 and all other Windows' issues is
to buy a Mac. Something a lot of my loyal, but frustrated Windows using
friends have been doing since Vista. In retrospect, they wonder why
they waited so long.

Stef

Stef has a point.

W7 Oem is missing NVMe and USB3 drivers. And M$ has NO PLANS to
reissue the ISO. So you have to jump through all kind of hoops
to get NVMe and USB3 on to the ISO. I succeeded on the USB3
front but not the NVMe front.

M$ does not want you to use their old stuff. I don't have
these issue with Linux, who doesn't care about such marketing
pranks. But, I don't have a lot of Linux customers, so
I have to hold my nose.

M$ also scrubbed all the W7 OEM's from all my distributors,
so I am forced to do new builds with 10 if I want NVMe support.

yes, I know, I can install 7 to a regular drive, then install
the NVMe service packs, then clone the drive to an NVMe drive.
But I also promise the customer he will have a bootable
installation media to reinstall if he needs to, So ...

I have no concerns. I prefer my software up to date. I am simply

The world is a big place so I always thought there'd be at least one
person who would willingly pay MS for the updates that have come at no
additional cost for all of these years. Now I know that you're the guy.

Well, they are providing me with a service so in principle I have no
objection to paying for this. That's not to say I object to receiving
free updates of course!

Is it not also the case that a lot of the profits go to the Bill and
Melinda Gates Foundation to provide medical facilities in Africa?

Is it your interpretation of the original post that OP wishes to
install Windows 10?

Was trying to lure him/her back into Win 10 when he/she mentioned Win XP
and 7. Well.... forget about my replies then.

The "service" consists largely of fixing issues with their software.
Some would say they have a duty to do so.

Is it not also the case that a lot of the profits go to the Bill and

I doubt that "a lot" of the profits go there or anywhere outside of the
company, but I consider it to be irrelevant. Besides, if you want to
donate to that foundation, I assume you can do it directly. You don't
need to send money to MS in the hopes that they'll pass some of it on.
