Trying to force SP2 on my computer...Help
I have Xp professional, vers.2002 with service pack 1. Recently there have been remote attempts to install SP2 The symptoms are as follows: 1. The bar on the bottom with the start menu etc. will change to a different bar. 2. A window will pop up asking me if I want to install the latest MSN messenger 3. My Cd-Rom starts opening and closing without my consent 4. Quickbooks will ask me to save any files I have open...as if the computer would shut down for a restart Remote installation of SP2 has happened before. I uninstalled it and then afterwards it crashed my computer. I am running Norton, Ad-Aware and SB-SaD Any advice appreciated Thank you, -- young_teacher ------------------------------------------------------------------------ young_teacher's Profile: http://forum.osnn.net/member.php?userid=9244 View this thread: http://forum.osnn.net/showthread.php?t=66565 |

Are you in a Domain or a Novell network that pushes updates to workstations? If so contact your network admin. SP2 does not automatically or "remotely" install under normal circumstances, you have to tell it to by accepting the EULA. Steve |
