Default They are forcing us to upgrade

My Win7 system is starting to have issues, I think that's a strategy to
force Win7 users to upgrade to Win10. Only problem is that I use an older
laptop with low resources. So I guess if I upgrade I'll have a system that
was not designed for this kind of hardware and soon I'll be installing Linux
and assuming I can't get a new laptop just because there is a new system
available. Why they don't let us work with Win7 if we already bought it?

There are lots of possible reasons for a system to have issues. If you
want a pristine and bulletproof system, learn how to make copies of your
installation, with Macrium Reflect. I've been doing it forever, but I
think it's easy enough for just about anybody using Macrium Reflect.

Gary, we will have to place you in a plastic

You realize you are posting in a W8 newsgroup, right?

I think that sounds a bit paranoid. I bought a new system in April 2012.
It came with W7 HP x64 SP1 and it's still running. No issues whatsoever
(I do have a SSD though). Wouldn't there be more W7 users complaining if
there were any truth to what you're saying?

Nobody's *forcing* you to install W10. Have you tried a clean install of
W7? Maybe install a SSD? That should boost it up. Or you can always try
Xubuntu, ideal for older systems.

I disagree. I think it sounds a lot paranoid. g

Linux is UE, Microsoft US. Lots of competition, maybe I'll just shut down,
don't want to go the wrong way.

The forces of nature is a good description of possible things that can
go wrong with Windows. That's why making backup copies works so well.

List them. We may be able to help. Provide clear and concise
descriptions and a short summary of your system's specifications and
we'll be able to help more.
Maybe.

Which does not necessarily exclude *THEM* being out to get him,
personally.
Logic, reason and *sanity* may.

I guess some people don't have tablets where all kinds of "upgrades"
occur for apps & the OS. Don't know about smartphones but can
imagine that updates happen with them also.

So there is no big deal with windows upgrades/updates. If one is
concerned, just use a "dead" OS like DOS or Nextstep or perhaps
OS/2 that won't get any forced updates.

What issues are you experiencing in Win 7? It could just be a
coincidence that your issues are happening at a time when upgrades to
Win 10 are being pushed. Like you, I have an old Win 7 machine which I
will NOT upgrade to Win 10. Yes I have had an issue with Win 7 updates
recently (to do with Windows Defender). But for the answer you will need
to go to ---- alt.windows7.general and look for the thread 'Win 7 -
regular BSOD events '
