Default "delete" on the tool bar in Windows Explorer

When I am in windows explorer and want to delete a file from a certain
folder, I have no "delete" button across the top tool bar. I have
organize, share with, burn and new folder but no "delete." I know I can
right click to delete the file but I am use to the delete selection on the
top tool bar. How can I add this? Thanks.

I don't know of any way to add it, but it's been moved to the "Organize"
drop-down menu. IMHO it's easier to right-click and delete from there.

Maybe highlighting the file, then hitting the DEL key may do it.

Yes, that will also delete it. For me, since I'm usually using the mouse to
highlight a file, it's more efficient to use the mouse again to delete the
file, rather than take my hand off the mouse, tap the DEL key and then take
up the mouse again.

What'cha doing with the other hand?

Seriously though, what is more efficient will vary form user to user. For
me, leaving the mouse where it is and hitting delete, especially if I'm
doing a big clean-up can be better as it is less moving the mouse back and
forth.

Yep. That's why I said "For me" as a defense of how I do it. I thought it
might be helpful for the OP to know another way of doing something. Sometimes
one learns that a different way is better than what one has been doing.TEHO.

I don't delete a lot of files but I use the mouse right-handed and I
could wish the DEL key were more convenient to my left hand since I'm
just not used to hitting the DEL key with it. However, that's how I work.

Not for everyone. It's just another annoyance in W-7 that wasn't in W98,
W98SE, XP or Vista. Why would MS remove something everyone who uses
folders uses?

I don't know how you can add it but you could use the delete key on your
keyboard.

Karen

You cannot add it and there never was a delete button in\on Windows Explorer
Toolbar.

Highlight the file that you need to delete and then use the Delete key on your
keyboard or right click on it and select Delete from the dropdown menu

If you mean there was never a delete button in Windows 7's version of
Windows Explorer, then fine, but in previous versions of Windows from
95 to XP there has always been a delete button in Windows Explorer.
Not sure about Vista as I don't have a Vista system around to look at.

As for not being able to add it, that's one of the things ClassicShell
does. Someone else already posted the link in this thread.

I should have been more explicit and say Win 7. Thanks Char for catching it

Try looking at the "DEL", under File, on the Menu bar on Windows 7
Explorer Bar!!!!!!!

Aware of that Leon. What the OP was asking is why there is no Delete button on the
Toolbar ofWindows Explorer in Windows 7, He was answered correctly that there is
none.
