Safe Mode
I am unable to get into safe mode. I am using Windows XP. I reboot the
machine and bring up safe mode by pressing F8 steady. The screen will come up on the display but I am unable to select anything. The screen is locked. This happened once before and I removed the mouse from the USB socket and added a plug to the mouse and up it came and worked fine. This time no go. Any help would be appreciated. Frank Redden

Here’s an alternative method to using the F8 key. As far as I know the mouse doesn't work with the Bootmenu screen and you

You're saying you simply swapped the mouse from a USB port, added the
adaptor for the PS2 port (round plug) or serial connector (similar to the vga port). Did you do a reboot of the system? Did you ensure that the serial ports are enabled in your BIOS?
