Default Free Back UP software

I am running Windows XP Home with all the latest up dates, Service Pac 2
etc. I use a desk top PC with about a 40 GB hard drive. My neighbor
recently made an external hard drive for me from a lap top hard drive and a
nice case that was designed for the purpose. The external hard drive is 40
Gb so is plenty for my computer. The external drive works fine and has no
problems.

Since the external hard drive is "home made" there is no software with it.
I have backed up the contents of my entire PC on the external HD. I have
been doing this by the drag & drop method into the external HD folder.

I have noticed that if I alter the contents of a file but do not change the
file name the Ext. HD will reject it. The Ext. HD seems to take only files
and folders which bear names that are not already in the Ext. HD.

Is there a free utility that will store any files and/or folders that I
change so I can later put them onto the Ext. HD?

My problem is that if I change or create a file/folder I forget which ones
I have changed or altered and as a result I do not know which ones to add
to the Ext. HD.

Your comments and suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you
Bob

Default Free Back UP software

Doug: I D/L Synctoy and it told me I need net framework. I went to the
web site and found the following. Which one do I need? I have an ordinary
home PC with XP Home on it.

.NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package
Download the most recent update to the Microsoft .NET Framework and
get everything you need to run applications developed using the .NET
Framework.

a.. Download x86 version
b.. Download x64 version
c.. Download IA64 version

Thank you:
Bob
