Problem with System display
Hi,
When my PC boots the display appear very fuzy and unreadable but when you uninstall the display driver and restart the PC it becomes readable but I'm not able to change the screen resolution. Whenever I try changing the resolution screen goes fuzy and unreadable again. It can only be made readable again by uninstalling the display driver and restarting the PC. Can anyone help me by telling how to resolve this problem? |

Problem with System display
This is a compatibility issue between the video drivers and the display.
The "at boot" display resolution is usually something like 640x480 with a refresh rate of 60hz. This is what the default BIOS usually sets. When windows starts, it usually changes this to another resolution during the startup process. Windows default drivers usually try for 800x600 or more. Some of the Monitors and LCD displays use different refresh rates, or different sync signals to select specific refresh rates and "modes". In short, the video driver you are using is not well suited to your display. In past versions of windows, it was sometimes possible to modify an ".inf" file to correct the situation. Since the .inf file may not be used by an XP video driver, this may not be a usable method to solve your problem. All is not lost if you have a common display and video card, since a generic driver may be available already within windows. You neglected to mention what video driver was being loaded, the video card make model, and the display make & model. Windows automatic detection may not work properly with some displays, or the display may not reply properly to windows. (Long story, involves digital data and flow through the video interface between the display and windows.) The last time I had this type of problem was with an SVG LCD display. (Low cost, older model) Prior to that, we might see a similar issue now and then with a few older analog CRT displays. "Chika001" wrote in message ...
