Default XP-SP2 question

I update my XP home edition recently and I installed SP2. I am trying to
install / use windows recovery console. I inserted my original XP cd and
when I tried to install it I got a message saying to the effect " that I
have an older version on my CD and it cannot be installed". Any ideas and
help would be very much appreciated.
