Problems w/ XP SP2 RC1
I recently installed WinXP SP2 RC1 from a microsoft
roadshow that I attended. Several days later I decided I wanted to reinstall windows. However, when attempting to do a recovery install, it pauses at the installation screen for about 10-15 minutes, before giving me an error about not being able to delete some .cab files. Upon further investigation I noticed that whatever files it was trying to delete, it had to do with SP2. It said it was a critical error and the installation would not be able to take place. So what do I do? I cannot get back into windows without it attempting to do a windows install, and the install wont continue due to these SP2 files (the .cab extension may have been wrong, but they were definitely files pertaining to SP2) Will I be able to fix this anything short of formatting? I was thinking of taking out the primary HD, installing it in another computer, and then removing these files it was complaining about by hand. - Jeff |
