Default Windows Messenger 6, NO SOUND

I have installed Windows Messenger 6 and have tried to have webcam
conversations with it with a few different people, and although we can see
each other ok, neither of us can hear each other (either through the
speakers or the headphone jacks). In fact, the audio just seems to pop out
after a minute or two, it says it can't connect to the other computer.

I can make a recording using sound recorder and I have run the audio and
video wizards (all ok there).

I have a Linkeys router, model BEFSR41. Could this be the problem?

The Windows firewall is turned off. I have no other installed firewalls.

If someoone could tell me what to do next, I would really appreciate it.

There is a bug in MSN messenger 6's audio.
Depending on the system's configuration on both sides it may work or it may
not work.
There is no general solution yet.You can find some workarounds in the
messages in this NG , they may help.
I would consider using windows messenger 4.7 or msn messenger 5 if they
worked before.
Good luck.
