Default OT CD to Flash

I have install CDs that I want to put on a flash drive so I can install
from the flash on to my computer at the cabin. I would rather not
take the CDs.

How do I get them on to the flash?
How do I install from the flash to the PC?
Do I need an empty flash or just enough room on the flash for the CDs?
A bootable flash is not needed.

Should be easy enough. You don't need an empty flash drive - just one
with enough space to hold the contents of as many CDs as you need.
Create a folder/directory for each CD and then copy everything from each
CD into the appropriate folder. [If using Windows Explorer to do the
copying, make sure it's configured to show *all* files - including
system and hidden files - or some vital files may not be copied.]

When you want to install a program at the cabin, navigate to the
appropriate folder on the flash drive, and look for a file called
"setup.exe" or similar, and double click on it. That should get you to
the same place as if you had loaded the CD and allowed it to Auto-run.

Create .ISO files of each CD, and select the flash drive as the target
"Save" drive. You can use something like IMGBurn to create them:
http://www.imgburn.com/
You don't need an empty flash drive, just one large enough to hold all the
CD's you'll need.

On your cabin PC, install a program to mount the .ISO as a CD drive, then
run whatever you need from the mounted drive (it'll look and act as if the
CD itself is in a CD drive). I like this one:
http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html
When done, just right-click on the virtual CD and select "Eject". That will
clear the .ISO from memory.

Using that method has worked for me numerous times. It's about as easy and
simple as it can get. Both programs are useful and take up very little room
and memory (a definite plus).

That's exactly how I do it. I even use those same programs.

Saemon Tools here for the virtual drive but Yes that almost always works
except for trying to run some copy protected games that demand the
original disk in the drive.

That can frequently be overcome too. Been a while but IIRC one just gives
the virtual drive the same drive letter as was used when the game was
installed.

Or look on-line for a "no-CD" crack for that particular game. Done that
myself for a couple of games I own that the CD's got damaged, or for some
odd reason weren't readable any more.

The OP might want to take a look at the autorun file to be sure the
installer gets launched correctly. Usually it's simple.
