Windows is acting fishy
1. Several WordPad windows are open
2. Click menu Restart 3. "WordPad windows preventing shutdown" 4. Restart anyway (clicked the button twice) 5. After the restart, my WordPad windows on the start menu are duplicated. In other words... Instead of four WordPad windows open, there are eight WordPad windows open, two iterations of each. So I clicked the (taskkill, shutdown) Restart batch file and it restarted correctly. This is the second time I have noticed a duplicate copy of my start menu WordPad files open. The first time it happened I did not notice why it might have happened. Seems there is something wrong with Microsoft's Restart routine. The only possible related setting to do with Windows reopening at startup (that are not on the start menu) I know of is the file manager "Restore Folder Windows..." but even that is unchecked here. I am not worried about it. I will use the batch files to restart and shut down. This is a notation in case anybody sees, or hears about, the same problem. |

Hi John, Sound like you have never done an actual reboot or power off. It Fast Boot is on, you never have. Turn off Fast Boot and do a "real" reboot. http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-tu...in-windows-10/ To do a real reboot, winR shutdown /r /r /t 00 HTH, let us know, -T |

It says so right there in the setting. http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-tu...ff-fast-startu p-in-windows-10/ To do a real reboot, winR shutdown /r /r /t 00 https://www.flickr.com/photos/27532210@N04/? I turned off fast boot anyway, and got the error situation on the very next boot. |
