Default SP2 Slows Down My System Substantially

After I install SP2 my systems becomes very slow. I have tried to install
SP2 different ways.

Windows XP, then SP1 and updates, then SP2
Windows XP, then SP2

In both cases I began with a new formatted drive. The performance
degredation affects everything, but especially demanding systems such as
Photoshop and Visual Studio. The performance problem was immediate after
installing SP2. I have a reasonable good system - PIV, 1.3 gig hertz, 1
gig ram.

Help.

Jay

1.3GHz...
Anyway - the RAM should help make up the difference.

You are staying disconnected from the internet until you get SP2/Firewall
on - right?
You are using the latest hardware dribvers from the manufacturers of each of
your hardware components - right?
You did check for any BIOS upgrades needed for SP2 on your motherboard -
right?
