Error when signing into Windows Messenger 4.7

yesterday only i sign up for hotmail and i activated my hotmail account
..Today when I try to login into Messanger from windows XP I got the error
"Signing into Microsoft Exchange Instant Messaging failed
because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
This is the first time i am using Messanger.Please Help me out.
