Default LifeCam vx1000 + Mic and Volume tracker locked

Greetings,
We have Windows Vista Home Premium and I just setup a Microsoft LifeCam
vx1000. Works great except when you attempt to setup a video conference
call, the volume scroll bar and the mic scroll bar in Messenger are disabled.
If you click on them, you end up dragging the whole window around of the
person you are attempting to chat with like you're dragging it from the title
bar. We downloaded the latest software for the LifeCam from microsoft for
the Vista OS. Can someone please tell me how to solve this issue?
