Windows Messenger and Outlook Express

I'm new to this discussion group and I am not sure if
this question was ever addressed. I am using Windows XP
Professional and wish to keep Windows Messenger and
Outlook Express as two separate programs. When I am
using Outlook Express, I am there to email my friends,
not to use Windows Messenger, but of course the two are
so integrated, that one cannot keep them separate. Is
there any way that I can disable Windows Messenger in
Outlook Express without causing problems afterwards, such
as a slow loading Outlook Express. I am surprised that
Microsoft has forced this integration upon the public -
the two programs would be terrific if one had a choice to
use one or the other at different times. Look forward to
further comments regarding this. Tks.

Yes you can (and yes this has been addressed many times before). To separate Outlook Express
and Windows Messenger, simply close Outlook Express, then download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...ssenger_oe.reg
Outlook Express will than no longer integrate with Messenger in anyway.
