Default Search companion doesn't work

When I attempt to use search companion, I get the
message "Unexpected Error Action could not be completed".
I have searched the MSKB, downloaded the hotfix, which
didn't work. I then attempted to reinstall the
srchasst.inf file, that did not work either. Any
assistance before I contact tech support would be greatly
appreciated. Oh, I'm running XP Pro, SP-2. Office XP
Suite, all updates in place.

Default Search companion doesn't work

Ah, fixed my own problem AND posted my own reply. The
solution was to use the same fix as another search
companion problem. See Microsoft Knowledge Base Article -
816665.
