Having 98 as ICS with XP home client?
Thanks, I'll give it a go...
Sam. -----Original Message----- Well I am doing that right now. Just set up the win 98 machine on your network and setup the lap top later on as the client. ICS requires some mucking around deleting & reinstalling etc but eventually everything is OK HT -----Original Message----- Hi, I'm back. Well, I was able to get my network running, but I have my xp as the ICS and the 98 as client. The thing is I would like this visa-versa. I have read a few support articles about networking with XP, and they say the XP computer SHOULD not HAS TO be the ICS. So it should be possible to have my 98 as the ICS right? Reason: My 98 (which is SE) is a desktop, and my XP is a laptop. I would like to be able to take my laptop with me when I want, that's the reason why I bought it, but at the moment, if someone wants to get on the internet, my laptop has to be connected to the LAN. Can I just disable ICS host on my XP and enable it on the 98SE, fill in the internet connection details and then reboot and it'll work? I just dont want to try it unless I know that it's possible cause I had hassles getting a network running in the first place and I don't want to play around with it. Thanks in advance, Sam. . . |
