3200+ auto reads 1900+
I have 2 Gigabyte Ga7n400-l Motherboards
2 AMD xp3200+ 2x256 pc3200 kingston memory 2x256 pc3200 corsair The configuration on both systems is the same Both systems crash at 11x200 at boot up /actually gets to xp boot screen/ Doesnt crash in dos or safe mode. the only configuration that works is 11x133 since cpu multiplier is locked at 11. It runs at 11x166 and crashes occasionally but works. The two power supplies are older 350watts.And ive only one hard drive and a cdrom. I bought a new 400 watt power supply and got same results. Ive been running the one system at 11x166 and now the system turns on then immediatly off. My question is whether its the power supply and whether its enough wattage. And is it possible for the 400watt supply to have gone bad from running improperly. Any help with the configuration would be appreciated. Also if this helps one would think the system would aotu detect the 3200+ but at best it detects 2500+. All dip swithces and settings are correct. As ive tried numerous configs.I thought 350watts was sufficient and went to 400watts just in case.Am I completely wrong or watt |

I have the same CPU in a similar Asus M/B. Here are my settings.
CPU External Frequency = 200 CPU Multiple Setting = Menu (I have superb RAM and run it fast) CPU Frequency Multiple = 11.0 System Performance = Menu (A note here. If I use clock 3 RAM I have to set this as "optimal". If I use clock 2.5 RAM I can set this as aggressive. I have clock 2 RAM so I set the timings as below for performance. If I use clock 3 RAM and try to run at aggressive settings my computer will lock every time.) Memory Frequency = 100% (Note: Unless you know what you are doing, leave this setting as "by SPD") Timings = 6 3 3 2 -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! 3200+ auto reads 1900+
I also have an asus board /a7n8x deluxe/ and it runs great.Same ram and cpu.
The power supply is a 400 watt.Im really stumped. However like you said the memory timings are 3's so maybe thats it. Ive tried at spd and still it auto reads at 133x11.Perhaps better memory at 2's or 2.5.Ill try that and let you know but i think its something else.Any other ideas. I also have an asus a7n8xe 3200+ and tried the memory all 4 sticks and it
worked fine. I have new pc 4200 im trying this weekend but Im pretty sure thats not it. Ive left the timing at SPD and same scenario.Maybe its just the cheap memory "Richard Urban" wrote: I have the same CPU in a similar Asus M/B. Here are my settings.
