Default Re-ins' XP, DVD drive not running games

I have just reinstalled windows XP and I have found that my DVD Drive (SONY
DRU-700A), can play media, burn dvd's/cd's, read discs to install programs,
but windows can never find the disc when it comes to running software. The
autoplay funtion on most discs still runs, however when you press run (on a
game for example), windows still can not find the disc. I do not have any
programs like alcohol or deamon, etc. and I am only running the one dvd
drive. I have tried searching for updates for the driver but so far I have
only been able to find a firmware update which has not solved the problem. Is
this an ASPI issue, if so where can I find an update/fix? If anyone can offer
any solutions to this problem, please let me know I would apreciate it
greatly.

Thanks
