Default Windows Installer not allowing me to load ipod/itunes

I just got an ipod last night, and i keep getting something popping up saying
that windows installer my not be proberly installed, and that my computer may
also be in safe mode. Now that is with using the disc that I got with my
ipod. And then i tried downloading it from apple.com and it still will not
allow me to install it because of windows installer not working. How do I go
about to get my ipod.itunes installed?

What is the Windows Installer version your using..?

Look in add remove programs to find it.. Is it showing as "Windows Installer
3.1 (kb893803)" ...?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898628/
Use the above link to see how to verify if v1 or v2 is installed..

Get the redistributable (v2) below, ie.. To reinstall it, if needed..

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...kInfoContainer
Follow all instructions..
