XP Pro SP3 Continuous restart
I have a machine (XP Pro SP3) that keeps restarting no matter if I use Safe
Mode or not. I researched the problem and saw that putting a new kernel32.dll program would work, but it didn't (I copied a copy of it from a workstation that worked). I also scanned it (as a slave) with everything I have and found no malware, viruses or bad stuff. Any other recommendations? |

XP Pro SP3 Continuous restart
The problem, Carl, is that "Automatically restart" is selected in the
Startup and Recovery dialog from the Advanced tab of System Properties. The system is crashing and, instead of displaying the BSOD, it restarts. If you can logon to Windows, then you can fix the problem by following these instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320299 However, if the machine crashes before you can log on, even in Safe mode, then you obviously won't be able to use that method. The best resolution then is to do a repair/reinstallation of the OS and, before you do anything else, remove that checkmark from "Automatically restart" that should never have been put there in the first place but which is, unfortunately, the default setting. Good luck! David Dickinson eveningstar at mvps dot org "Carl Gross" wrote in message ... I have a machine (XP Pro SP3) that keeps restarting no matter if I use Safe Mode or not.
