activesync 3.8 installation error

I am trying to install Microsoft activesync 3.8. I have uninstalled
past versions. I also had this trouble with 3.7.1. I tried to see if
3.8 would be different, but no help. I am getting a file copy error as
follows: Setup could not copy the file "C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\Local
Settings\Temp\IXp000.TMP\core\inf\wceusbsh.cat" (copy error -1).
Restart your desktop computer andrun setup again.

I have tried to restart and it doesn't help. Any ideas?

Need more information, really. First, clear out the 3 sections in your Event
Viewer. Then open up your "%windir%\setupapi.log" using Notepad (where
%windir& is usually a folder named C:\Windows or C:\WINNT). Go to the end of
that file and enter a shor line of **** characters and save the file. Later,
you can use Find in Notepad to get back to that area where you placed those
"marker" characters at. Now try to reinstall your program (it will still
error). Then look for entries to have appeared in any of the 3 sections of
your Event Viewer; if you find any post the Source, Category, and Event ID
information here regarding any yellow or red icon marked entries you find
there (you can double-click one to get that information). Then open that
setupapi.log file again, find the marker characters, and post here any
(well, don't get excessive!) lines after those marker characters that
indicate an error occurred. That might be enough information to get some
idea about why the program will not install properly.

I am afraid this is to much info. I am unsure what to leave and what to
delete. If there is to much and I am affraid there is, please let me
know what to omit.
