Default Something keeps changing my desktop background

Hi,
Can someone please help me? Today this something (sorry I have no technical
savy) keeps changing my desktop background to some spyware warning. Even
when I change it back to normal it changes it back to that same blue
background with the warning. There is a link on it that goes to
http://winsecurityupdates.com/?aid=444.568. I can't get rid of it. What
ever it is has also disabled my task manager. HELP!!!!! Please!!!!!!! It is
sooooo invasive, I hate it.

Hello kimmey,

Its a type of spyware. Don't go to that link or download any of the file. I
think it has changed the desktop color also. I'm giving you the best
solution, Use Avast 4.8 Home edition Antivirus (Free). You have to register
yourself for free license by sending mail to Avast. First Enter the
Registration key, then Update its database, Disconnect from Internet & at
last scan the whole computer for virus. After getting rid of the virus, I
think you have to restore some of the registry key also. Hopefully you will
get rid of it. Below is the link for Avast.

Use my Remove-it software, it will remove that malware from your system.
Choose yes for all options when prompted. Download it here

Sorry to see you're still disturbed, Chris. No one will trust you since you
offer plagiarized software from a website that hosts pr0n. Shame, really.

Post in one of the suggested forums anyway, without a HJT log, and fully explain your
problem and what you have tried.

What's frozen? your background? be more specific. Email me a copy of the log
file remove-it created. It is located in the program files\Remove-it
directory.

I realize my post is several months past the time this question was
originally posted, however I just ran into this problem myself on a
Windows XP system.

I found the culprit to be a program named Wallpapertoy.exe. I don't
know how/where it was installed from, but when I killed the process my
wallpaper stopped changing on me. In control panel/add remove programs
I also found the application and removed it. Problem solved.

Regards,

Terry
