MS Office Install.
I have two laptops, HP Pavilion/XP/3 and Toshiba Satellite
a205/Vista/1. Currently I am in process of moving files and apps over to the Vista machine. I have MS Office 2000 on my XP machine. Although old this works well for me because my needs are minor. Sometime in the distant past I transferred my distribution disks from the standard jewel boxes to the slim type. In the case of MS Office I then discarded the standard jewel box with its installation code. Under the Help/About MS Excel/Access/Word, etc there appears my name and a Product ID. Would these help to obtain the correct installation code if I wrote to MS? Many Thanks, Peter |

Use Belarc Advisor on the working machine that currently has Office 2000... http://belarc.com/ ( Although - I cannot guarantee it will work for Office 2000. :-( Approaching a decade - that's like double-lifetimes in software years. heh ) -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

Sadly, I see no legal way of obtaining a key.
How to obtain a new product key for Office program setup http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=823570 My understanding is that it is not for Office 2000 and older. The Office group should verify that. (microsoft.public.office.misc) Belarc Advisor or any other key-finder will not work on Office 2000 as the key is not kept on the machine after installation. ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows - Internet Explorer http://dts-l.com/index.htm On Mon, 2 Feb 2009 20:54:10 -0500, in microsoft.public.windowsxp.newusers, "PVR" wrote: I have two laptops, HP Pavilion/XP/3 and Toshiba Satellite a205/Vista/1. Here are four utilities, all of which will display your product keys:
Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html (It does a good job of providing a wealth of information.) Also: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml and: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html and RockXP: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4138.html which has additional features. -- JS http://www.pagestart.com "PVR" wrote in message ... Download the Green Icon SIW Standalone version to old computer. When it is up and running, on the left-hand side, click on Licences. It will show System Program Product Keys. -- Mad Mike "PVR" wrote: I have two laptops, HP Pavilion/XP/3 and Toshiba Satellite a205/Vista/1.
