Running Windows XP, SP2. Right after scanning for spyware, removing
and rebooting, my computer refused to obtain an IP address, and I couldn't get connected no matter what I tried. I tried doing a windows repair, resetting the BIOS, deleting HOSTS file, reinstalling the network card driver. Nothing is working. I installed XP on a new partition and it works fine here. I probably could do a fresh install and move all my documents, but I'm really curious what the culprit could be, so I wanna isolate and troubleshoot it. I just don't ****ing understand how the problem could persist after a Windows repair, because all the system files are reinstalled and replaced, so what could it be? What other areas should I try troubleshooting? Thanks. |

![]() You could try the IP reset routine. Or the winsock fix. Both have lots of info on the web. |

google search for "microsoft ip reset" or google search for "microsoft winsock fix" You don't even read my post and the aforementioned winsock reset attempt above which I clearly stated solved nothing, and you have the nerve to not only repeat the same ****ing thing James said, but to tell me to google search for a short CMD command that could fit my cell phone screen? You sir are a vapid piece of ****. Migrate your fat ****-face out of my sight. |
