I have Chrome as my secondary browser. With the latest scare-story,
especially as it mentioned 7-32 which is what I run, I thought - I'm already drinking the Kool-aid by using Chrome at all, so I might as well "up"grade it to seal that hole. (I had problems doing so - wouldn't upgrade itself; I had to download an installer. I got the standalone one. Running that [having turned Chrome off beforehand], it came up, with all my tags, and I think settings, intact.) I've moved from Chrome 64 to 72. Twice today, it has crashed - not what I'd normally expect of a crash (goes off a cliff then lies there broken in the valley, with its wheels spinning uselessly), but it just closed suddenly - as in one moment it was there, then it wasn't - sort of "where's it gone?". On restarting it, it said it had closed unexpectedly, did I want my tabs back; when I said yes, it restored. I think it's happened a third time - it's not running now, and I don't remember closing it. I'll just reopen it ... yes, I got the "Restore pages?" prompt. All three times, the active page (of 11 tabs open) was YouTube; I don't know, of course, if that was/is relevant. Anyone else getting odd behaviour like this* from Chrome since the latest "up"grade of Chrome they weren't before? I just - where the * is above - tried just closing the YouTube tab, and Chrome disappeared again. I've restored it, and will try again: that time, the tab closed but Chrome stayed up. -- J. P.
