using windows xp pro I made a mistake and deleted some files with IE 6.0 and
now I no longer can open int exp. I have tried a reinstall with my xp disk
but that didn't solve the problem.some installed firefox so I could get
online but I want to go back to int exp.Is there anyway short of a full
reformat to get this back? I have tried downloading from Microsoft and it
shows downloaded but still won't work.

Above is download link for IE7.
Follow instructions there.
You must have XP SP2 or SP3 to install it.

Just downloading it won't get it to work, you have to install it.

Have you rebooted yet?

What happens when you do the following?

Start | Run | (type) IEXPLORE.EXE | OK
