Default CMD tab to fill out file name

Some command line versions will see TAB and expand out the file name, others
not, why? What do I need to turn it on?

I know I'm dreaming, but there wouldn't be a simple proggie to do this?

I am always on edge when playing with registry because it is so easy to mess
more things up than you fix.

I know that when I reprogrammed the bios back in 1985 to use an RS232
terminal, I was able to turn on a secret switch to allow DEC-style control
characters. And in 1995 I had something in DOS6 off SIMTEL which installed
completion.

*+-This is a registry setting. Type cmd.exe /? for full details.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor

Step 3: Double-click on the CompletionChar key and change the value to
9 in decimal format. CompletionChar enables folder name completion.
