Check server status.

https://www.eternal-september.org/se...hp?language=en

You can see the server has some sort of problem.

The WWW part is working.

yes, number of connections below half normal

if using port 80 or 119, try switching to 443 or 563

Exactly. As long as there's not some sort of certificate
problem, one of the other ports could work. Some
people in E-S support claim theirs is working, and
that's probably why.

Right you are Paul,
I just switched from a dead port 119 with no SSL to port 563 with SSL
turned on and the data is flowing once again from E-S.

When posts other than "It's working!" from Eternal September users begin
to show, then it's working.

I have a gazillion bites to go on Astraweb's server, left over from when
downloading binaries from USENET was cool. That's not much for binaries,
but it's several lifetimes worth of text posts.

Yeah, but not everybody has their news reader set up to display the
header that shows which server a message originates from. Mine doesn't
for instance. I can get that info if I want it, but it's not displayed
by default the way I have it set up. I minimize my headers so I can
display more message body.

I'm using: news.eternal-september.org Port 119
Which was down earlier but is OK now.

Works for me on port 119. A day or two ago, did have a login or other
access problem. Tried again later and all was working.

Did you exit Xnews and start it again ?

Maybe it remembers bad status and does not update.

*******

Check here.

The first line ("feeder") is not for client connections.

The four lines below it are client ones.

Pattern looks "mostly normal" at the moment.
