!!DRIVERS ARE NO GOOD!!
I have a IBM Thinkpad T42 that I have just wiped clean and installed XP PRO.
I'v downloaded the appropriate drivers from IBM's website and none work. Iv scoured the web and have found many hard to find drivers for many systems in the past but this is the first time that I have gone to the manufacturer's website to download the specific drivers for a system just for them NOT to work. I am ToTaLLy confoosed on this one here. Could anybody out there kick me in the right direction and enlighten me on what I may be missing that im JUST NOT SEEING?? Product ID: 2373k3u Download site.... http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...nei nd=171874 THANX N ADVANCE!!! Wayne B. |

Did you tell it to show only XP drivers? Did you install the motherboard drivers before any other drivers? |

That would be this page here.... http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...ali date=true and if ur referring to the chipset drivers, I attempted to install those first which is this page..... http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-46058 |

Now, you say that "and none work." Exactly what is happening when you attempt to double click on the oss206ww.exe file that you have saved to the hard drive or onto a CD? Error messages are important to be worded exactly. |

They say its finished... and nothing changes. No messages, no anything. Thats the way it is for each one that I have tried thus far. Totally NoThinG!!!! It's like the drivers are for a different system and the notebook doesnt recognize anything. |

It's like the drivers are for a different system and the notebook doesnt recognize anything. How do you know that the drivers aren't installing? Have you gone to the video adapter and looked at the video driver information? Can you use the built in network card or wireless? If so, the drivers are installed. Not all driver installation programs give a "driver successfully installed" message. I don't have the notebook you have but reinstalling on other makes of computers show that there is a possibility of the drivers being successfully installed without any messages. Look at the settings for the various devices (right click My Computer, left click Manage, Device Manager and then open the various items by left clicking on the + sign and then right clicking the device and left click on properties to see the driver details tab. The really significant ones are Display adapters, sound...game controllers, network adapters and Modems, If they show any driver other than Microsoft, they have probably been installed OK. |
