Default Security Update for Office 2007 (KB3085616)

The KB3085616 update would not install on my PC.

Pharmaceutical companies claim their drug prices are
so high because they have to recover the costs of developing
those drugs. Two questions:

1. Why is the U.S. paying the entire cost of development while
prices for the same drugs in other nations are much lower?

2. Manufacturers of generic drugs did not have those
development costs. Why are they charging so much for generics?

Is this a question or info for us? anyway, have you tried downloading
it manually from this link:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=50053

Or from he

https://download.microsoft.com/download/8/B/7/8B78D84F-EEDA-42E2-82F6-942F47B9C64D/ogl2007-kb3085616-fullfile-x86-glb.exe

Do you get any helpful error messages? I guess you don't like most
Windows updates.

Thanks for sharing.

If you were asking for help, I'm sure you would not have confined
yourself to the useless "would not install". You would have explained
exactly where you got the update(*), and what happened when you tried
to install it, including the exact text of any error messages.

(*) That's not a foregone conclusion, since updates can be got via
Windows Update or directly from the not-very-explanatory web page.

Oh, but that's too much like hard work for the OP, when all we have to
do is look in our crystal balls to see what the error messages, etc. he
is getting are. Sigh.

Why is every one so snarky? All I wanted to do was inform you that one
of the so-called important updates does not install. I decided it could
not be so important and marked it hidden.

Standard operating procedure is to locate the KB and
download the package as a standalone installation.
Then apply it.

Many times when stuff will not install, I do that...
and it works.

Sometimes Office updates are offered, when you have
Wordview or PowerPoint Viewer and so on. So even without
a proper $$$ Office suite, there can still be Office-related
patches offered by Microsoft Update. For example, when I had
never attempted to patch WordView in the past, there were
something like fifteen related patches for it when I used
Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer to check.

It is most likely good that it did not install. I tried downloading the
installer file and manually installing it. That too failed. When I
vhecked the indicated SHA-1 and SHA-256 hashes for the downloaded file,
they both failed to verify.
