Default Fsaxemn Service??

I have a reoccuring Service Control Manager error in my event log that says:

Event ID 7000
The Fsaxemn service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

Scouring the inet I can't find any results for this... Anyone ever hear of
it?

TIA

The word "Fsaxemn" does indeed produce no results. Have you tried
running a full anti-virus scan with updated definitions?

Hope this helps.

Has your anti-virus detected and removed any viruses recently? If so
what virus?

Have you uninstalled any programmes recently?

Try searching your Registry for Fsaxemn. Start, Run, type "regedit"
without the quotes, click on OK, place cursor on My Computer and use
Edit, Find. What results do you get?

Hope this helps.

Default Fsaxemn Service??

Hi Gerry,

I have had viruses in the past and got rid of them. Maybe this is part of
one?

I haven't really uninstalled anything recently either that I remember...

In regedit I checked earlier and I didn't see any clues. Doesn't mention
anywhere of any applications..
This is what I found:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\F saxemn
enium
security

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\F saxemn
security

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Fsaxemn
Enum
Security

I probably will just delete these and see what happens

Thanks for your help!

I just removed all references to this in my registry and rebooted... All is
well that ends well
(Still curious what it was though)

Thanks for your help!

Use regedit and search that name. You should find it under registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\. Look for value name
"ImagePath". That should point where that missing file is supposed to be.
There should also be value name "Description". You can disable the service
by changing key name "Start" to value "4". Or if the service seems to be
part of virus, you can delete whole registry key "Fsaxemn".

As a precaution back up your Registry before deleting the keys.

Fsaxemn does not appear to be a Microsoft file.
First eliminate any scumware.
What You Should Know About Spyware
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...ssoftware.mspx

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available he
